Cohort 3 | July - September 2015
I am a sound and video artist who frequently collaborates on large installations combining sculpture, light and sound to make immersive environments open for all to enjoy. Recently I produced a public art project in the Grays Ferry and Point Breeze neighborhoods. This project, called Commotion, utilized the skills of my students to work with the community to create a month long festival of dance, video, music, sculpture, photography and theater. I spent over a year meeting with the neighbors to determine what would be the most useful outcome of this project. I frequently present my artwork in historic industrial buildings throughout Philadelphia, such as Globe Dye Works, Eastern State Penitentiary, Disston Saw Works, as well as a gutted row house along Lancaster Avenue. I bicycle from my home in Powelton Village to my job teaching at the University of the Arts, here in Philadelphia.
